These termite traps let
you know they are in the area and allow a pest exterminator to kill the
nest. The traps are 'planted' in the ground around your home. Termites
travel between food sources underground so they will find this nice dark
cosy trap filled with yummy, easy to eat cardboard and timber.
The top of the trap has
a clear window, which the termites cover with mud when they arrive because
they don't like light. When you see mud in the window call in the pest
exterminator. He will drill a small hole in the trap and puff in the
treatment. Termites in the top of the trap have to walk through the powder
to get back to the nest. The treatment will be on their body and they
carry it back killing the whole nest. Now you simply reset the trap with
fresh cardboard and timber and keep your eye out for muddy windows.
Margaret has detection
traps at home and has had the pestie come out twice to puff in the
chemicals.
