Eventually it will have
a hollow in the centre caused by constant use. With a worn oil stone you
will never achieve accurately sharpened tools. Your chisel, etc. will take
on the shape of the worn oilstone.
To dress the stone flat
again take a 6mm piece of glass and a handful of damp Silver Sand. The
glass gives you a flat surface to work on. Use some 'elbow grease' and rub
the stone in the Silver Sand on the glass. This will wear the stone back
to a flat surface ready to sharpen your next blunt chisel.
