There is a cloth used in the
nursery and agricultural industry which helps to protect plants from frost.
It is a fine spun polymer which allows sun
and rain to penetrate but holds the temperature around the plant at about 3
degrees above the outside temperature. It is especially useful for young new
plants which are susceptible to frost damage but can handle the cold when
properly established.
This fabric is better held off the plant
with stakes or a frame, however, just thrown over the plant is better than
nothing.
It comes 1800mm wide and is sold at 95c per
metre. |
