 Mosquito
larvae of most species have a prominent breathing siphon.
The
larvae rest suspended diagonally from the water surface with the end of the
siphon tube penetrating its surface enabling the larvae to access their air
supply.
To
stop them breeding in your tank a little paraffin oil spreads a film on top
of the water to cut off their oxygen.
It
will not affect the water for drinking. |
